In Switzerland, PSYCHIATRISTS are medical doctors specialized in prescribing medication and hospitalization. Some of them are additionnally psychotherapists thanks to years of additional certified training in psychotherapy; they are called psychiatrist-psychotherapists.
It is important to understand that although any medical doctor is reimbursed by medical insurances for the time spend listening to you when related to your medical condition it is not considered psychotherapy.
In Switzerland, it is the FMH (Swiss Medical Association) which controls the psychotherapy certification of psychiatrists.
